YAPPIE: THE MUSICAL - WORKSHOP PERFORMANCE
HOPE AND DESPAIR: OPERA AT THE THEATRE PROJECT

As a recipient of Peabody Conservatory’s Dean’s Incentive Grant, a LAUNCHPad Grant, and Marin Alsop's Alsop Entrepreneurial Award for Conductors, Roger and a team of Baltimore creatives premiered a workshop performance of their original musical, "Yappie: The Musical". In collaboration with Johns Hopkins University among other local Maryland universities, production is premiering in the Spring of 2020.

Hope and Despair features the work of two Baltimore-based composers Daniel Despins and Nathaniel Parks, premiering contemporary chamber operas that explore the ways pain shapes and molds us; The Chains that Bind Us (Daniel Despins), and Mallory (Nathaniel Parks) were to be premiered by Baltimore Theatre Project, and are planned to be performed in the future.

FUTURE DIRECTIONS OF MUSIC COGNITION 2021: PAPER PRESENTATION

Musical Picture Whimsies celebrates the original paintings of Art10 Baltimore, a group of artists who have been painting together for 10 years with work juried and non-juried throughout the United States, through the nine movement Pierrot suite, composed by Bobby Ge. Based on the belief that art should not be an insular experience, the suite is divided into three sections that integrate the visual art with the melodic sounds of classical music. In partnership with the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Maryland.
March 2021
In March 2020, a musicology paper and research project that my research partner and I conducted entitled “Musical Instrument, Personality and Interpretation: Music Cognition at a College-Conservatory” was selected to be presented at the Future Directions of Music Cognition Conference at Ohio State University. The research topic explored the connections between individual instrumental pedagogy, depth of musical interpretation and musicality, and personality.

Pivoting from the cancellation of the staged premiere of our original musical, the "Yappie: the Musical" team pivoted to produce a fully-recorded concept album of four main numbers from the musical, released as part of a livestreamed release event to celebrate its release alongside AAPI month in May 2021.
